Barrington Hills home invasion trial delayed

The trial of the 23-year-old Wilmette man accused of a Barrington Hills home invasion last year has been postponed until Nov. 12. Attorneys said Wednesday that the suspect, Kuhn Kim, is undergoing psychiatric evaluation and they are still waiting on the results, which are expected to be a factor into the case.

In December 2009, police say Kim stormed into the home and struck a 60-year-old woman with a gun. Police arrested him 90 minutes later and recovered a Jaguar automobile, a laptop and an engraved pocket knife but not a gun.

Kim was charged with home invasion, armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping, possession of stolen vehicle, battery and burglary. Kim was freed after posting $100,000 cash to meet his $1 million bond.
