Lake Zurich sets trick-or-treat hours

Halloween trick-or-treat hours have been set in Lake Zurich for 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. This year, those hours were decided by residents.

A poll on the village's Web site allowed residents to choose the time they would prefer their kids visit neighborhoods on an incognito mission for candy. Two time periods on Saturday and two on Sunday were options in the poll, which was on the village's Web site during September.

The winning time received 43.3 percent of the total 690 votes. "The volume of people voting is very telling that they had an interest in voicing their opinion for it," Police Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said.
