Teen charged in shooting death of Chicago girl

Chicago police say a 17-year-old has been charged in a shooting that left one young girl dead and seriously injured her cousin.

Steshawn Brisco of Chicago was charged as an adult Friday with first degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. Police say the Corliss High School student turned himself in on Wednesday.

Authorities say both girls were jumping rope when gunfire broke out Tuesday evening. Police believe Brisco and another person rolled up on bicycles, fire and then fled.

Relatives have identified 8-year-old as Tanaja Stokes, who died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Family members say 7-year-old Ariana Jones was also shot in the head.

Brisco was due in court Saturday. A phone listing for Brisco couldn't be located. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
