Five charged with criminal trespass after Vally Lo Lake drowning

Glenview police have charged five people with criminal trespass following Monday's drowning in Valley Lo Lake.

At 1:34 a.m., Glenview Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a person drowning in the lake, located on the 2000 block of Valley Lo Lane. Police found several people searching for a friend last seen in the lake adjacent to the Valley Lo Club.

Firefighters located Andrew A. Porter, 29, of Evanston, and took him to Glenbrook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3 a.m., officials said. The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled Tuesday that the death was an accidental drowning.

Investigators determined the people present had used canoes belonging to the Valley Lo Club to go out on the lake, which is private property of the club, police said.

Those charged with criminal trespass were: Jacqueline A. Creely, 22, of the 9900 block of Holly Lane, Des Plaines; Sonia Kim, 20, of the same address; Daniel D. Kang, 18, of the 1700 block of Pickwick Lane, Glenview; Jane H. Kang, 19, of the same address; and Keino S. McKenzie, 30, 2010 Sherman Street, Evanston.

All five were released on $1,000 personal recognizance bonds. Their court date is Aug. 31.
