Dog dies, garage totaled in Palatine fire
A dog died but there were no other injuries in a fire that totaled a garage in Palatine early Monday morning.
The cause of the garage fire at 445 E. Colfax St. remains under investigation by the Palatine Fire Department.
Firefighters received the call to the wood-frame, two-car garage from several passers-by at 1:59 a.m. Despite the obstacle presented by street construction in the area, units were on the scene within five minutes. The fire was under control at 2:19 a.m.
The house on the same property sustained only minor damage from the garage fire.
The dog, which was being kept in a kennel attached to the garage, was transported to the Golf Rose Animal Hospital in Schaumburg where it died.
