An appreciation for coyotes hanging out

I've read about Wheaton using trappers to kill "diseased coyotes and coyotes that exhibit aggressive behavior". This is the silliest thing I've heard in a while.

Imagine a coyote walking around saying to him or herself, "Gee I think I will walk into that cage or trap because I am sick and I am aggressive and I am who they are looking for." How dumb do these Wheaton officials and trappers think the public is?

I doubt one has to be an expert on coyote behavior to realize that all coyotes exhibit "aggressive" behavior when they are hungry. This is their nature. I, for one, really appreciate the coyotes that enter my yard and hang out in the woods next to my house.

The last few years since they have been around, we have had a really nice garden with pretty flowers and plants after years of frustration with rabbits destroying everything. People in my neighborhood who have dogs walk them on leashes everyday and stay with them if they are not on leashes.

I have witnessed a hawk in my yard take a very large squirrel. I suppose they could potentially grab a cat or small dog. Are we going to start killing the hawks too?

On another note, the man who wrote about the woman who said that a deer had waited for her at her door and then attacked her, I don't buy it. Deer don't attack unprovoked, if at all. She must have been feeding them if they were waiting for her. I say leave the animals alone and go after the mosquitoes.

If Naperville decided to hire trappers to come around the woods by my house, I might just have to set up some traps of my own - to catch the trappers.
