Dew Tour stars returning to Chicago for BMX in July

The Dew Tour, the world's season-long action sports tour, will return to Chicago for the second stop of the five-city circuit for the 2010 season.

A Chicago landmark, the Museum Campus, will be the site of the Nike 6.0 BMX Open, July 23-24, and will feature the world's greatest talent in BMX park, vert and dirt.

Returning to Chicago for the second consecutive year, the BMX Open will take over the Museum Campus parking lot between McCormick Place and Soldier Field for the first time, adding a new venue to the event's BMX competitions.

"The success of the Nike 6.0 BMX Open last year made the decision to return to Chicago easy for us," said Chris Prybylo, Alli vice president of events and Dew Tour general manager. "Bringing BMX back to Chicago is the perfect way to kick off that leg of the 2010 Tour, and we look forward to showing the city two days of great competitions."

The 2010 Dew Tour kicks off in Boston with a skate-specific (park and vert) stop in June, then continues on after Chicago with multi-sport events in Portland, Ore., Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Over the course of the five-stop schedule, athletes will compete to accumulate points based on their individual-event finishes, each vying for the most overall points and the title of Dew Cup champion.

The 2009 Dew Cup champions include Chris Cole (skateboard park), Bucky Lasek (skate vert), Garrett Reynolds (BMX park), Jamie Bestwick (BMX vert) and Ryan Nyquist (BMX dirt).
