Man charged with threatening Jewish school

A 24-year-old Chicago man has been charged with threatening to set off explosives around a North Side Jewish school if Israel didn't stop military actions in Gaza.

The FBI says Mohammed T. Alkaramla was ordered held without bond Friday after being arrested at his home that morning.

Authorities allege Alkaramla, a native of Jordan, sent a letter containing the threat to the Ida Crown Jewish Academy on Dec. 30.

The letter claimed explosives would be set off around the school unless the violence in Gaza stopped by Jan. 15. The FBI says no explosive devices were planted, and no injuries were reported.

Alkaramla is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
