All should be able to see contract

I am a recent new subscriber to the Daily Herald - and I am shocked to find news that I was not getting by reading another paper.

I am particularly surprised by the Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 secrecy issue that I am just now hearing about. Politicians campaign on issues and purport to be honest, yet when the issue of transparency surfaces, they fight tooth and nail.

School board positions should not be that political - but I see now that even this post has not escaped the bad habits of so many of our Illinois politicians. I would like to know who sat on that school board - it's time to name names.

Just which of my neighbors decided that we do not have the right to know the terms of a publicly funded contract? Transparency and accountability are two ingredients in the recipe for good government.
