"Bangkok Dangerous"

Lionsgate releases this Nicolas Cage thriller today, but without any press screenings, just as it released "Disaster Movie" last weekend. In fact, four mainstream movies last week bypassed critics, suggesting that movie studios are in a frenzy to dump their dogs during the final days of the summer season, and they have zero confidence in the quality of their own films. "Bangkok Dangerous" is a remake of a 1999 Hong Kong action thriller from the Pang brothers. The original main character was a mute/deaf hit man. Now he's a hit man who falls for a mute/deaf woman.

Opens today at area theaters.
