Flu vaccine at the library

The Dundee Township Library will offer vaccines for H1N1, seasonal flu and pneumonia from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28. The shots will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. The H1N1 shots are $15, while the seasonal flu shot is $25 and the pneumonia vaccine is $45. Cash or check payments are accepted. Medicare is not. The H1N1 vaccine is an injectable shot containing a dead virus. The nasal spray will not be available. Children through 10 years of age should get two doses of the vaccine about a month apart. If your child has already received one dose a minimum of 30 days ago (injection or nasal spray), he or she they can receive a second dose at the library. Violence counseling offered

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. A licensed counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females, and services are free. For information or an appointment, call (847) 697-2380.

Purchase Metra tickets online

Metra is now accepting credit card payment for ticket purchases made online. Using a new Web feature, My Metra, commuters will be able to create an account to more easily manage and order tickets online. The feature also will allow them to view ticket order history, create a customized view of their train schedule and set up personalized e-mail alerts. For details, visit metrarail.com.
