Ask before you put sign in my yard
It is autumn here in northern Illinois and campaign signs are popping up everywhere. Every open lot and highway right of way seems to have new signs showing up daily for both local and national candidates.
Many of these signs are in the yards of supporters of individual candidates. I respect those homeowners' choices and applaud their show of patriotism and their involvement in our democratic process. Like them I take my choice of candidates very seriously.
You can imagine my surprise when I returned home the other evening and found a candidate's sign planted in my own front yard! This sign was put in my yard without permission while no one was home. No one from that particular candidate's organization had asked for permission before placing the sign, left us contact information about who had placed the sign or has contacted us since placing the sign. In talking to other people I have found out that this is not an isolated incident.
This show of arrogance and lack of common respect is not a trait I would expect from a judicial candidate running on his "ethical behavior." This latest incident is just one more reason that I won't be voting for John Noverini for circuit court judge.
