Skinny: Former UIC assistant Gene Cross, who also put in his years at DePaul and Notre Dame, returns home to face former boss Jimmy Collins. The Rockets just lost one of their two double-figure scorers to a transfer (redshirt freshman guard Stephen Albrecht). Freshman Jake Barnett leads them with 14.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He also shoots 47 percent from 3-point range. UIC doesn't get much turnaround time after Sunday's 36-point loss at Wisconsin. The Badgers smothered almost everything the Flames tried to do, though sophomore guard Zavion Neely (13.9 ppg) flashed his quickness and handle with several drives to the hoop. After this game, UIC has just 39 hours to rest and prep for its noon New Year's Eve clash with Detroit.
