A perfect moment at Naperville Central
My family witnessed a fabulous act of kindness, friendship and leadership on Feb. 25 at Naperville Central High School. In a time where economics are tight and morale can be low, a perfect example of hometown heroes was witnessed. At the varsity basketball game on senior night, a senior manager was able to dress in the Naperville Central basketball uniform, and after fans chanted his name, the coach put him in to play the final 10 seconds of the game. The Wheaton North players and the Naperville Central players let him dribble up to the basket and score as time expired. The crowd was standing and cheering loudly, and the players put him on their shoulders and carried him off the court. It was a perfect moment. The Naperville Central basketball team, the coaches, Wheaton North High School and the fans are true heroes. We are very proud to be Naperville residents and, most importantly, this young man's parents.
