St. Charles
• Anahi Gervacio, 25, of the 500 block of Mann Place in Elgin, was arrested Saturday and charged with retail theft, police said. Gervacio was spotted putting two small purses in a shopping bag by store security at Sears, 3700 E. Main St. Gervacio then left the store without paying. She told police that she had intended to pay for the purses but forgot she put them in her bag.
• Todd Robert Greenwell, 36, of the 200 block of Villa Street in Elgin, was arrested Saturday and charged with retail theft, according to a police report. Greenwell took a bottle of Crown Royal liquor valued at about $46 from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road. Greenwell fled the scene on foot, but was spotted placing the bottle under a vehicle in a parking lot a few blocks away. Greenwell told police he intended to sell the alcohol. Greenwell was on parole at the time of his arrest.
• A pair of heavy-duty windshield wipers valued at about $44 was stolen from a vehicle parked on the 200 block of 2nd Street between March 18 and March 20, according to police. The wipers were replaced by a broken pair by whomever stole them.
• A driver's-side front turn signal marker was stolen from a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Chasse Circle sometime between March 19 and March 20, according to police. On the morning of March 20, a white male, about 6 feet 3 inches and between 180 and 200 pounds rang the doorbell of the location where the vehicle was parked. The man had short brown hair, a black jacket and a dark navy stocking cap with an orange brim. The residents of the home did not open the door. The man then went around to the backyard, but did not enter when he found dogs there. The man then left in a van. A neighbor who witnessed the incident later told police the man drove an older model, red Jeep Cherokee. The witness spotted the man measuring the front porch after ringing the doorbell of the home where the damaged vehicle was parked. The man might have been a contractor who was asked to come to the home.
• Two windows and a door were egged on a city-owned building on the 2900 block of Fifth Avenue between March 13 and March 17, according to police. Two windows on the north side of the building were also broken.
Kane County
• A television and several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen Tuesday from a residence on the 33W000 block of Bonnie Street, St. Charles Township, according to a police report.
