Choose experienced candidates for Elk Grove Village board
Experience is the byword in the race for Elk Grove Village trustee, and the three sitting board members seeking a return to their seats represent a solid block of both veteran service and new energy.
Christine Prochno, an educator who has been on the board 12 years, and Pat Feichter, a political-science professor also seeking his fourth term, both boast years of service to Elk Grove Village in addition to the village board work.
Jeffrey Franke, a technical sales representative appointed to the board in July 2007, spent nine years on the village zoning board and is at the point that he's just becoming familiar with the players and the process.
With the effects of airport expansion on one side and the advantages of a healthy business park on the other, Elk Grove Village is a town that especially benefits from having such sound experience at the helm.
Challenger Mitchell Gora mounts an able campaign. He is familiar with issues and offers reasonable approaches for dealing with them. While active in community and school events, he would benefit from service on a village committee or commission that could get him more specific local-government experience.
In the meantime, strong experience remains highly valuable for the Elk Grove Village board, and Christine Prochno, Pat Feichter and Jeffrey Franke should be returned.
