Belgio drops out
Tim Belgio, owner of Belgio's Catering, has announced he is no longer in the running for a seat on the Naperville Park District board. On his Web site, Belgio said he recently learned it would interfere with the family business so he has decided to withdraw. His exit leaves seven people running for four 4-year terms including incumbents Suzanne Hart and Gerry Heide and challengers Jim Ensign, Rich Janor, John Polich, Mike Reilly and Kirsten Young. Incumbent Andrew Schaffner is the only person running for the lone 2-year seat.
Naperville to get $1.5 million
Naperville is eligible to receive more than $1.5 million in federal stimulus money. The city announced Monday it will receive just over $1.39 million through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program and $130,778 in Community Development Block Grant funds. City staff is exploring projects that will carry out the purpose of the energy grants, which are to be used to reduce fossil fuel emissions, examine total energy use and improve energy efficiency.
