Did anyone read stimulus bill?
Teachers have students read to learn information so they can comprehend and arrive at a conclusion. The average book, whether text, technical or causal reading is over 250 pages.
The new Congress in passing the $787 billion economic stimulus package worked on the project for less than 30 days. The House and Senate versions were different so in three days the two chambers completed a compromise bill. This compromise was done in committee, behind closed doors and with no transparency. The manuscript is over 1,000 pages in length. The compromised bill was approved in one day.
Congress has lawyers, doctors, business persons and educators; yet if this contract was in the private sector, it would never be approved in one day. How can any member of Congress and the President read and understand that many pages in a day? It is obvious that the "abridged version" is the bill that Congress passed and the President signed.
Educators, businesses, lawyers, doctors and anyone required to read new material to gain information can now just go to the "abridged highlights" because that is what the President and Congress have done it with the $787 Billion stimulus package. How many mistakes will have to be "adjusted" because of the incomplete reading and conclusions in this stimulus package?
