His union brothers helping campaign

The casino is coming to Des Plaines!

What else is coming to Des Plaines? We are less than a month away from electing a new mayor in Des Plaines; Mayor Arredia cannot run again because of term limits.

One of the candidates for mayor is a business agent for the Electrical Union 134. It is part of his job to check to see if you have hired union labor for your business or development. If you do not hire union labor he can put up a large inflatable rat in front of your business and his union workers can picket outside your business to make sure everyone passing by knows you have not hired union workers. This is perfectly legal and within his rights.

Now that he has announced his candidacy, his brotherhood of Union workers (those from Chicago and other suburbs) are sending thousands of dollars to his campaign. (You can check this out on the Illinois Election Board Web site - he is receiving donations from the heating and air conditioning unions, sheet metal workers, plumbers, pipe fitters, electrical. etc. unions).

With all the money he is receiving he buys ads in the newspapers, sends out beautiful political mailings to the residents of Des Plaines and calls every voter in Des Plaines (robo-calls).

Chicago union workers are walking through our city, ringing doorbells, asking for support for him as mayor. Union "bosses" are putting up his campaign signs in front of the homes of union employees, letting them know they have to vote for the union candidate. Money talks. He has all kinds of money and an army of union workers.

People from outside my city will decide who the next mayor in my city will be - unless the people of my city decide to vote their own will.

And, what do the unions want in my city?

Alderman Rosemary Argus
