Vote against bill is vote against women

For the past forty years women were legally entitled to equal pay for equal work, until the Supreme Court stepped in.

When Congressman Mark Kirk had the opportunity to stand up for the hardworking women in his district, he did not. He chose instead to vote against them when he cast a no vote against the Lilly Ledbetter bill.

This bill removed the time restriction recently imposed by the Supreme Court, so that women can file when they become aware of the discrimination. Pay inequity affects women's day-to-day lives, it also affects their pensions and social security.

Congressman Kirk campaigned as a moderate Republican, but he really favors business interests over hardworking women.

Congressman Kirk, stop pretending to be moderate.

Thankfully, during the first days of the Obama administration, the bill passed without Kirk's vote.
