Family of man slain in Chicago says he was delivering pizzas
Family members of Elk Grove Township murder victim Patrick Cregan say they've been led to believe their relative was delivering pizzas when he was shot and killed early Sunday.
Jim Cregan, the uncle of Patrick Cregan, said he understands that his 35-year-old nephew was straightening his life out and working as a deliveryman for a pizza shop that stays open until 5 a.m.
The report Jim Cregan said he'd heard was that his nephew had only just delivered a pizza to an address a block away from where he was killed.
Chicago police said the case remains under investigation and have not revealed any findings so far. A spokesman said there has been nothing to indicate - or contradict - that Patrick Cregan might have been a pizza deliveryman.
Officers found Patrick Cregan shot through the head in the driver's seat of his vehicle which had crashed into a chain-link fence on the 1400 block of North California Avenue in Chicago at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday.
The Cook County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide the following day, the result of multiple gunshot wounds.
Patrick Cregan lived in the Willoway Terrace trailer park in unincorporated Elk Grove Township just outside Arlington Heights, possibly with a different uncle.
Jim Cregan said his nephew was unmarried but had a son.
