Girls soccer

Cary-Grove 2, Hersey 0: Scoring single goals in each half, Cary-Grove (1-1) earned its first win of the season with this 2-0 shutout over Hersey. Mary Scheinder got the Trojans on the board unassisted, and Allie Simon added an insurance knock assisted by Liz Bart. In goal, Paige Wooldridge racked up 3 saves to maintain the shutout.

Larkin 4, Marengo 1: With a pair of goals and an assist from Morgan Smith, Larkin (1-1-1) earned its first win of the year in Game 2 of the Huntley tournament. Kelli Johnson and Wendy Guadarrama each added single goals while assists came from Tessa Longo and Jacqulin Goodlove. Anna Goodlove defended the Royals' net racking up a pair of saves.

Wheaton Academy 10, St. Edward 0: Busy in goal, Taylor Hunsberger tallied 14 saves for St. Edward (0-1-1) as the Green Wave fell to Wheaton Academy in nonconference action.

Baseball

CL South 12, Marengo 0: With a 10-run second inning, Crystal Lake South (1-0) sailed past Marengo in 5 innings. Gavin Meyer (2b), James Vazquez (2b) and Ian Gardeck (2b) led South's offensive efforts while Tim Ambrose was the winning pitcher. Ambrose struck out six in 3 innings of work.

College softball

Judson 6, Northland College 5: A 6-run fifth inning sparked a come-from-behind win for Judson University over NCAA Division III Northland College, 6-5. Judson is now 7-6 on the year. Victoria Perez picked up the win and Virginia McAndrews the save. Lizzy Jacobson and Concetta Lampugnano led Judson with 2 hits each. Carrie Sensor, Kristin Krueger, Nicole Dimiceli, and Jacobson each had RBI for Judson.

College baseball

St. Xavier 7, Judson 6: In its CCAC opener, Judson University fell to St. Xavier, 7-6, in 10 innings. Judson is now 5-10 on the year overall. Jason Egli took the loss. Kevin Fischer led Judson with a 3-of-5 performance at the plate and 2 RBI.
