Prospect Heights man charged with identify theft

A Prospect Heights man posted bond and was released Saturday after he was charged with using another man's identity.

Jesus Delgado, 27, was charged with identity theft, a class 4 felony, after the victim received a letter from the IRS. The government was seeking back taxes on wages earned at a Wheeling company, Corepak Medical Systems, where the victim had never worked, said Assistant State's Attorney James Pontrelli.

After an investigation, the Wheeling police arrested Delgado on Friday. He appeared in Cook County Circuit Court on Saturday, where the judge gave him a $10,000 bond. He was released on $1,000 bail.

His case was continued to 9 a.m. March 27 at the courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
