District 95 teachers should renegotiate
School District 95 in Lake Zurich recently turned down a request to reopen contracts to help close a $4 million shortfall (Daily Herald 3/20). How arrogant! In today's climate, while most people are getting hurt, unemployment is rising, plants and offices are laying off and/or cutting hours and pay, the teachers feel they are above all this!
Those on the public payroll should realize where their salaries and retirement come from - all from taxpayer dollars, in one form or another. In this case, the school union just stuck a finger in the eye of ALL taxpayers and said we're better than the rest of the country. What a shame!
