Grant citizens power to defend themselves

Well it seems another lunatic has killed someone in yet another "gun free zone." When will the state government see its way clear to grant us the privilege of being able to defend ourselves? It's becoming clearer by the week of the need to pass a concealed-carry law in Illinois. If a properly trained average citizen with a concealed-carry license were present they may have been able to avert the crime completely.

I'm sure Governor Blago and King Richard II (Daley) will assure us they're on it and will propose yet more feel-good legislation with more unreasonable restrictions aimed at law-abiding gun owners which will have no affect on criminals as they don't obey the law anyway. These two have an ARMED guard around them at all times so of course they don't see the need for us "subjects" to have the right to defend ourselves. After all, the police will make it there on time to prevent the commitment of a crime, won't they?
