Allstar Rebels give back to community
In the three years since opening the doors of Allstar Rebels, two things have been in the forefront for the owner and members of this organization.
The first, giving the athletes the best training possible to have a winning season. To date, they have 42 first-place finishes, 15 National championships and seven grand championships.
Secondly, cheerleaders were informed of the importance of giving back to the community and those less fortunate. Through the charitable arm of Rebels with a Cause, the cheerleaders, coaches and parents have been able to do just that. Rebels with a Cause has provided funds for Cancer Research, CASA of Kane County as well as donated food to Lazarus House and the Northern Illinois Food Bank. True of any competitive athlete, this year they have stepped up their game and challenged each team to come up with their own charitable endeavor.
During the Thanksgiving holiday, the Gangsters (Jr. Level 4) coached by Jake Lannert and Christine Auriene went to the Salvation Army and helped put together and distribute Thanksgiving baskets.
"Partnering with such a great organization like the Salvation Army was a wonderful experience" Auriene said. "I am so proud to have a team as eager as mine to help out in any way they can. I really think it had such a great impact on their lives as well as others."
The cheerleaders, parents and coaches worked together pulling food items from the shelves, placing them in the baskets and taking them to the awaiting people. "It is our pleasure to help the Salvation Army because they do so much for our community" Lannert said.
The other Rebels teams have also accepted the challenge and will be helping Children's Memorial Hospital, making and delivering cards to the elderly, as well as helping those in need within the Kane County area.
"We feel it's important that the athletes understand that although training and competing is our main objective through the season one should never lose sight of doing something to help others" said owner Matt Paraday.
