Light snow leads to heavy commute times
Lake effect snow caused traffic delays and slippery commutes throughout Cook, Lake and DuPage counties this morning.
Road conditions are slick from the storm, one expected to deposit between 2 and 5 inches before its done, officials from the National Weather Service said Monday morning.
The snow is expected to fall until about noon, officials said, then taper off.
The snow has caused weather-related accidents throughout the area, officials said. Dozens of property damage-only accidents were reported on all major highways. In addition, accidents were reported in Barrington, Hanover Park, Long Grove and Carol Stream.
Chicago Department of Aviation spokesman Gregg Cunningham says more than 75 flights are canceled at O'Hare International Airport. Flights to and from the East Coast are delayed about 20 minutes.
