UIC tops SIU; Loyola falls
In his final home game, Illinois-Chicago senior Josh Mayo scored 17 of his 25 points in the second half as the Flames held off a late Southern Illinois rally for a 74-67 victory Saturday night at the UIC Pavilion.
Robo Kreps added 20 points, and senior Scott VanderMeer had 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Flames (14-14).
Kevin Dillard, a Homewood native and last year's Illinois Mr. Basketball, scored 17 to lead SIU (11-17).
Bradley 86, Loyola 75: Sam Maniscalco and Chris Roberts had 18 points apiece as Bradley used a 30-4 margin in free throws to defeat Loyola at the Gentile Center. Loyola scored the first 4 points of the game, but Maniscalco led a Braves run of 15 unanswered points.
Justin Cerasoli led the Ramblers (14-16) with 26 points, while J.R. Blount added 20.
Theron Wilson added 16 points and Dodie Dunson has 13 for the Braves (16-12).
NIU 97, SE Missouri St. 73: Playing just over 100 miles from his hometown of St. Louis, sophomore center Sean Kowal scored 21 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds as Northern Illinois (8-17) won at Southeast Missouri State (3-25). Darion Anderson added 18 points for the Huskies, including five 3-pointers.
EIU 59, W. Michigan 57: Ousmane Cisse led four Eastern Illinois players in double figures with 13 points, and the visiting Panthers fought off Western Michigan (9-17) down the stretch. Romain Martin added 12 points while T.J. Marion and Billy Parrish scored 11 each for Eastern Illinois (12-15).
IPFW 82, WIU 74: David Carson scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead visiting IPFW (10-18, 7-10 Summit League) over Western Illinois (10-17, 5-11). Western Illinois had the two highest scorers of the game. Ceola Clark had 27 points and David DuBois 24 for the Leathernecks.
Chicago St. 96, Olivet Naz. 68: David Holston scored 29 points and had 10 assists to lead Chicago State &17-12) over visiting Olivet Nazarene (12-14).
