Train strikes person in Des Plaines

An unidentified person was fatally struck by a train in Des Plaines just before 8 p.m. Monday, police said. The person was struck near the intersection of Graceland Avenue and Miner Street. Passengers on the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line Train number 655 scheduled to arrive in Crystal Lake at 7:58 p.m. were picked up by a later train, according to Metra's Web site. Further information about the incident was not available late Monday.
