Forest preserve job fairs
Two job fairs will be hosted next month by the Lake County Forest Preserves next month for temporary positions. The events are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14 at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago and from 4 to 8 p.m. March 26 at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about available positions including lifeguards, marina attendants, guest service positions, food and beverage attendants, laborers and golf coordinators. Other positions include nature camp instructors and forestry and wildlife biology interns. Temporary positions are also available for Youth Conservation Corps crew leaders and members. Boat slip rentals
Boat slip rentals are now available for the 2009 season at the Fox River Preserve & Marina near Lake Barrington. The Lake County Forest Preserve District's marina has 169 boat slips of varying lengths and amenities. Fees range from $1,000 to $1,650 per year for Lake County residents. Nonresident rates are higher. A four-lane boat launch with affordable daily and seasonal rates is also available for boats with trailers. Call (847) 381-0669. The 482-acre preserve along the Fox River has more than 2 miles of trails for hiking and biking, comfort stations, shower facilities for slip tenants and large picnic pavilions that can be rented for a variety of outdoor functions. Fundraiser at Ram
K's For Kids will conduct a fundraiser at 6 p.m. March 16 at The Ram, 700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling. The evening includes dinner, a curl of beer and a tour of The Ram's famous brewery for a $35 ticket price. There will be a raffle featuring Cubs items, including tickets for the upcoming 2009 season and other baseball memorabilia. K's for Kids, a dream of the late coach, teacher and Cubs fan Tom Bujnowksi, provides opportunities for children to attend Cubs games and promotes positive life experiences through baseball.
