HSBC to provide trend data

METTAWA - HSBC Holdings Plc, Europe's biggest bank by market value, and data provider Markit Group Ltd. have together created new emerging-market indexes to provide information on economic trends. The "purchasing mangers' indices" track data including new orders, employment and prices based on interviews with companies, HSBC said Monday. The PMI reports will initially cover manufacturing for China, the Czech Republic, India, Poland, Turkey and Brazil. There is also a PMI report for the Hong Kong economy, and an emerging markets index will be created on Oct. 6.
