Aggravated DUI alleged in crash that killed Des Plaines man
Des Plaines police have charged Ilkwon Song of the 5000 block of North River Road, Chicago, with two counts of aggravated DUI after police said Song causing an accident that killed a Des Planes man. Song was arrested immediately after the Jan. 30 accident and was initially charged with failure to reduce speed and DUI. His 2007 Honda Accord rear-ended another vehicle also traveling westbound on Golf Road in Des Plaines. Following impact, the second car, a 1996 Acura Integra, veered into the eastbound lanes of Golf Road and was struck by a third car. Three victims were transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. But on Feb. 8, the driver of the second car, Hadesan Panicker of Des Plaines, died of his injuries, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office determined.
