Churches take turns to host Lenten organ recitals

The 2009 Dundee and Elgin Area Lenten Organ Recital Series begins on Ash Wednesday and continues from 12:10 to 12:40 p.m. Thursdays at various local churches. For details, call Phyllis Connelly at (847) 515-8743.

• Feb. 25 (Ash Wednesday): Pianist Pam Buckhardt and organist Phyllis Connelly will perform at First Presbyterian Church, 240 Standish St., Elgin.

• Feb. 26: Organist Michael Surratt will play at First Congregational Church, 900 S. Eighth St. in West Dundee.

• March 5: Organist Vernon Studt will perform at First Congregational Church, 11628 Main St. in Huntley.

• March 12: Organists Steven Smith and Phyllis Connelly will perform at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Drive, Elgin

• March 19: Organist Dale Voelker will play at St. James Episcopal Church, Sixth and Washington streets in West Dundee.

• March 26: Organist Michelle Nunez will perform at Bethel Lutheran Church, 3839 Frontage Road in Rolling Meadows.

• April 2: Organist Dan LaPrairie will play at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 845 W. Main St. in West Dundee.
