Sligting deeds have improved Elgin

I have known Charlene through South West Area Neighbors (SWAN), since 2007. From my experience working with her in that neighborhood group, I can say for a fact she will accomplish good things for all Elgin residents if she is elected to the city council.

Safety is one of our top priorities. One of the police officers assigned to our area is present at every meeting. Charlene and the police are respectful, courteous, and professional to each other and to everyone there. The cooperation we have with the police is excellent. Any issues we have are immediately dealt with. For example Charlene sent out e-mail blasts to SWAN members when a rash of burglaries occurred in our neighborhood. The police were very responsive to us and through energetic investigation identified the four people responsible and were able to arrest three of them.

In another example as a neighborhood group we took a proactive stand against the street gangs. Drive by shootings and drugs ruin a neighborhood and gangs participate in both. With Charlene's leadership and neighborhood pressure a store that sold drug paraphernalia moved out and a store that sold candy and illegal drugs was closed down. Drugs finance street gangs and promote burglaries and robberies. Getting the street gang members and drug dealers out of our neighborhood improves safety. Crime does not do anybody any good and criminals are not welcome.

I expect Charlene to carry this priority over to the city council.

She listens to all people with respect. She works to make life better for all residents. She has an actual record of accomplishments she can point to.
