'Craigslist robber' suspect arrested, jailed without bond
A man dubbed the Craigslist robber by investigators has been arrested and is being held without bond in Cook County Jail.
James Thomas of Chicago and an accomplice allegedly lured victims to locations by pretending to sell items they listed on the online site Craigslist. Prosecutors say they then robbed the victims at gunpoint in six attacks between Nov. 25 and Jan. 27.
Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Erin Antonietti said Wednesday one victim met the 20-year-old Thomas and his partner in hopes of selling a Gucci bag. Instead, Thomas and the second man, who hasn't been arrested, took the man's jacket, watch and bag.
Antonietti said that victim later spotted Thomas on his MySpace page wearing his stolen jacket and posing with the gun he used in the attack.
