Mathias gets this mayor's vote

I know Sid Mathias (state representative, District 53) and stand with him as do countless others who really know him and who have worked with him.

Sid Mathias is a hardworking, ethical, honest and responsive legislator. Any suggestion to the contrary is baseless election cycle political chicanery.

Sid is someone who works well with people on the other side of the aisle to get things done in Springfield. As a mayor who has worked with many legislators, I have heard his Democratic colleagues emphasize that to me time and again.

We cannot afford to lose his reasonable and thoughtful advocacy and his persuasive ability to secure support from his Republican colleagues to be responsive to the needs of our community and the region.

Sid is clearly someone who deserves support from Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.

Though I am excited by this year's ever-continuing enthusiasm for Barack Obama and the many super Democratic candidates who hopefully will be elected to effectuate change, they need some people they can work well with on the other side of the aisle like Sid Mathias.

He is a thoughtful, independent-thinking Republican who continues to deserve our full unwavering support.
