Flu shots offered at Dundee Twp. library

Seasonal flu shots will be given by a registered nurse from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the Dundee Township Public Library. Shots will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis and will cost $25 each. (Cash or check only; Medicare not accepted).

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year.

They recommend that those who should get the seasonal flu shot each year are: children aged 6 months to 19 years old; pregnant women; adults 50 and older; anyone with certain chronic medical conditions; and those who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

"Vaccination against the seasonal flu is a priority to many in our community, so we are pleased to be able to offer this service. This is an easily accessible and affordable opportunity for those who want to receive the flu shot," said the library's Director Roxane Bennett.

The seasonal flu shot that will be available at the library will not protect you against the 2009 H1N1 flu (that is a separate vaccine).

The library is located at 555 Barrington Ave. (Route 68) in East Dundee. For information, contact the library at (847) 428-3661 or dundeelibrary.info.
