Police nab last suspect in Silo restaurant shooting
Lake County Sheriff's police Tuesday nabbed the third and final suspect in the shooting and attempted armed robbery of The Silo restaurant near Lake Bluff just more than a year ago.
Kennedy L. Banks, 47, of 22 W. 112th St., Chicago, was arrested at his home Tuesday morning without incident by sheriff's police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's fugitive task force.
Last week, the task force contacted the sheriff's office with information about Banks' possible involvement in the crime, which happened on Dec. 9, 2007. A few victims of the Silo robbery identified Banks as an accomplice in a photo lineup.
Banks is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, burglary and armed violence.
Last month, Lake County Sheriff's police arrested Charles Knight, 45, as an accomplice in the crime.
Two victims were wounded in the botched robbery attempt that police say was an inside job hatched by an employee who told Knight they could make as much as $3,000 by robbing the restaurant.
Knight was linked to the crime when police found his fingerprint on a glass at The Silo the night of the shooting and attempted robbery.
Edward Jackson, 44, of Chicago, is the employee accused of setting up the robbery. Information provided by Jackson indicates Knight fired the shot that injured two restaurant employees, police said.
