The skinny: After a setback Saturday against Brown, Northwestern searches for its first road win in a ACC-Big Ten Challenge game. The Wildcats dropped consecutive Challenge matchups against Virginia in 2004 and 2005. NU freshman point guard Michael Thompson (15.3 ppg, 5.5 apg) faces a tough assignment in Cavaliers senior Sean Singletary (21.5 ppg, 6.3 apg), who has led his team in scoring in five of six games this season. Virginia, which comes off its first loss, is 3-0 in Challenge home games. Northwestern is shooting 46.9 percent this season, but its perimeter defense has been a problem. Opponents are shooting 42.2 percent from 3-point range against the Wildcats.
