Arellano allowed to stay far too long
It's about time that the federal government did their job and arrested Elvira Arellano. My question is why didn't it happen sooner? She's been flaunting her crime in front of the American public for the past year!
I also question why the Daily Herald wasted so much newspaper space to give us a blow by blow of her life in the story "A day in sanctuary," letting us know how she spent her time chatting on My Space and selling Avon. She certainly had plenty of time to study English through an audio or video program, but I guess that didn't cross her mind. Instead of trying to assimilate into American culture, she chose to spend the year portraying herself as a martyr.
I am so sick of hearing about the so-called tragedy of taking parents away from their "American citizen" children. If they are concerned about keeping their family together, then they are welcome to take their kids back to Mexico with them.
But they choose to sneak across the border illegally. Maybe we should change the law that allows any person born on American soil to be afforded citizenship.
