Thanks to all who helped with horses

On behalf of the entire Lake County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, our organization wishes to convey our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the police and fire personnel along with the many local farmers, volunteers, and veterinarians who responded to the tragic horse accident on Route 41 in Wadsworth this past weekend.

As agriculture in Lake County continues to decrease due to development, we are reminded that agriculture and those who care about the land, animals and the industry as a whole, continue to call Lake County home. This was evident by the actions of the many volunteers, some with equestrian backgrounds and others simply concerned about the safety and well being of the injured animals.

While the investigation into the accident continues, the questions regarding the transportation of 59 horses in a small confined trailer will hopefully be answered. As an organization, we are reminded of the importance of training first responders of the complexity and often times danger in dealing with livestock and other farm-related accidents.

Again, we extend our deepest appreciation to those individuals who took the time to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts of those injured horses.
