Learn about flood mitigation:

The Des Plaines Flood Action Group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in City Hall Council Chambers, 1420 Miner St. Mayor Tony Arredia and Tim Oakley, the city's director of engineering, will speak on completed and in-progress flood mitigation projects. They will address the impact of Levee 37 and the city's future flood mitigation plans. All Des Plaines residents affected by flooding are invited to attend. The purpose of the community action group is to help citizens prepare for flooding, work through flood devastation and aftermath and collaborate with the city and other governmental bodies to mitigate potential flooding.
