Kids get head start on Valentine's at book store event

Valentine's Day may be a time for couples, but children love the holiday as well. That's why Barnes & Noble stores across the country will host a free event for children, age 3 to 7, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 to celebrate St. Valentine's. Locally, the event will be held at Barnes & Noble at Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee. No reservation is required.

The Saturday morning event will kick off with a special Storytime. Booksellers will choose favorite stories to read from popular titles including "Max's Valentine" by Rosemary Wells; "Love, Splat," by Rob Scotton; "The Berenstain Bears' Funny Valentine" by Stan and Jan Berenstain; "Fluffy's Valentine's Day" by Kate McMullan; and "Be My Valentine, Amelia Bedelia" by Herman Parish.

Fun Valentine's craft-making will follow, as well as complimentary refreshments, such as sugar cookies and hot chocolate. For information, call Suzanne Lattanzio, community relations manager, at (847) 426-4602.
