Group launches Great Lakes education campaign

A group devoted to protecting Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes is launching an education campaign to increase public awareness of the importance of the largest source of fresh water in the world.

The Chicago-based Alliance for the Great Lakes is hitting the airwaves to let people know about the lakes, threats they face and how the public can help protect them with what is called a "This is My Water" campaign.

The first part of that campaign is starting this week with radio spots that alert listeners to a new online microsite that shows them where they can get information about such things as water quality, water conservation and invasive species.
