No injuries when van strikes columns outside Round Lake shopping center
A motorist lost control of his vehicle Saturday and struck several support columns at a Round Lake shopping center, authorities said.
No one was hurt in the accident, which occurred about 3:15 p.m. on the 200 block of West Washington Street.
The motorist was headed north in a van on nearby Cedar Lake Road when he lost control and veered off the roadway, Round Lake Area firefighters said. The van struck support columns in front a Dollar General Store.
The store was temporarily evacuated until after fire department crews were able to reinforce the front of the building, officials said.
As of Sunday afternoon, no citations had been issued.
