Grayslake High helping food drive:

Students at Grayslake High School District 127's two buildings plan to assist in a local food drive from Nov. 2 through Dec. 4. The teenagers from Grayslake Central and North will deliver fliers and empty bags to area residents from Nov. 4 through Nov. 11. They'll return to collect food donations from the residents' doorsteps from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21. Residents also may drop off the food at the high schools. The pupils will help the Grayslake Lions Club in the effort. Last year, District 127 students collected an estimated 59,000 pounds of food that went to local families in need. Plans call for the Lions Club and students to distribute the food to the families Dec. 5.

Grayslake launches new Web site:

The village of Grayslake launched a new Web site that provides users with more information about village events and news. The Web site maintains the same web address, www.villageofgrayslake.com, and is easier to use, officials said. New features, such as a document center, community directory and an FAQ section, are now offered online. Also, residents can now get faster updates and village news sent to their personal e-mail account, officials said.

Learn to cut your phone bills:

The Citizens Utility Board is taking its "Right Call Campaign" to Round Lake to show consumers how to cut their phone bills by hundreds of dollars a year, CUB officials said. The presentation runs from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Round Lake Public Library, 906 Hart Rd. Consumers can stop by with their bills for a free analysis by CUB's experts. CUB's campaign was launched earlier this year after the consumer group released a report showing Illinois callers are overpaying by about $1.5 billion a year, but most can enjoy significant savings by following a few simple steps. CUB's free "phone-bill clinics" have shown consumers how to cut their local and long-distance bills by an average of about $200 a year, officials said. Acupuncture open house:

The public is invited to an open house and anniversary party from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Vital Points Therapy, 326 S. Milwuakee Ave., Libertyville. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day is observed each year on Oct. 24 and is designed to increase awareness of the those subjects. Visitors will learn about Oriental medicine.
