State's unemployment drops to 9.9 percent in Aug.

The jobless rate in Illinois was 9.9 percent in August, down from 10.4 percent in July.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security on Thursday released new statewide and 12 metro area figures. Rockford saw the greatest increase in unemployment, rising to 15.1 percent this year compared with a 9.7 percent rate in August 2008.
