Aviation, CTA get new chiefs

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley played musical chairs Thursday in filling two transportation key positions. He picked city Commissioner of Aviation Richard Rodriguez as the new Chicago Transit Authority president for a salary of $198,000. Chicago O'Hare Modernization Program Executive Director Rosemarie Andolino was named as the replacement commissioner of aviation and will keep her current responsibilities as well. Her salary will be $179,100. The CTA board still must vote on Rodriguez's nomination but it's expected to pass easily. The CTA is facing budget shortfalls and the O'Hare Modernization Program also has financial and legal challenges. "Both of these individuals have proven themselves as strong and creative managers in their previous assignments with the city," Daley said in a statement.
