Get antiques appraised at Hadassah fundraiser

The Elgin chapter of Hadassah has scheduled an Antiques Shul Show at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at Congregation Kneseth Israel, 330 Division St. in Elgin, in order to raise funds to build a new hospital in the Jerusalem area of Israel, replacing a very forward thinking but cramped and rather outdated hospital adjacent to the same location.

Attendees can have their antiques, treasures, and curios, evaluated. Bring your curios and treasures for a consultation with James Waughon, an experienced and extremely knowledgeable collector. If he knows is advance what you are bringing, Waughon will research the history of your item or items. Reserve your appointment now.

There will also be a silent auction of donated services and items. Advise what item or service you will be donating, its approximate value, and what the minimum bid should be. Examples of different kinds of services include dog walking, airport "runs," tutoring, providing Shabbat dinner, designing invitations, creating Web sites, quilting, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, beading, crossword puzzle solving, etc. The possibilities are endless.

For questions, donations, and reservations, contact Debbie Sternfeld at (847) 985-1122 or rxman4@comcast.net, or Nancy Zimmerman at (847) 828-6090 or nanzim@FoxValley.net. Onclude "antiques" or "donated service/item" in the subject line of an e-mail.

Associates and guests welcome. Admission is $5 per person or admission plus first three items brought in for consultation: $18; $4 for each additional item. Wine and cheese will be served.
