Don't stifle voices of reason from outside
Ray Barry from Arlington Heights (Fence Post, Jan. 25) wants the Daily Herald to stop reporting on: 1. Ann Coulter 2. Sarah Palin 3. Rod Blagojevich 4. Sean Hannity 5. Karl Rove. How expedient: Hide from sight the poisoned "poster child" of Illinois politics (Blagojevich), and then stifle the strong voices of dissent who might offer a diagnosis of the political "mental illness" afflicting the Illinois elect and electorate (Coulter, Hannity, Rove). Keep from our eyes the embarrassing contrast of your twice-elected governor to Sarah Palin and let us return our thumbs to our mouths!
If the abrasive Coulter, dogmatic Hannity, or piercing intellect of Rove are beyond your tolerance, then switch over to MSNBC: There you will find Keith Olbermann, Barack Obama's manservant of the airways. Check out NBC, too. You can monitor "The Greatest Degeneration" - - atrophy of Tom Brokaw's journalistic credibility before your very eyes. If any state would be home to a newspaper that would accede to your wishes, it would have to be Illinois. In Illinois, the "re-elected" do as they please, empowered by a complacent, complicit majority. One of the few political comforts the rest of us have are the voices from beyond the "Tollway Curtain," however shrill. Ray, can't we have just one little obnoxious column from or about these others somewhere in the midst of the daily, cover-to-cover, morning-to-night Obama homage?
